3 prisoners and 5 hats puzzle
Three prisoners and five hats (supposedly two black and three white) are involved. The three prisoners are ordered to stand in a straight line facing the front, with C in front and A at the back. They are told that there will be two black hats and three white hats. One hat is then put on each prisoner's head; each prisoner can only see the hats of the people in front of him and not on his own. The first prisoner that is able to announce the color of his hat correctly will be released. No communication between the prisoners is allowed. Who will announce first....?
He first asks Prisoner C, "What is the color of the hat on your head?" Prisoner C thinks for a short while and then replies, "I'm sorry, I do not know."
He then asks Prisoner B, "What is the color of the hat on your head?" Prisoner B thinks for a short while and then also replies, "I'm sorry, I do not know."
He finally asks Prisoner A, "What is the color of the hat on your head?" Prisoner A thinks for a short while and then replies, "I know! The color of my hat is...."
What color hat is Prisoner A wearing and how did he know?

Depends.
ReplyDeleteA wins if he sees Black hat for both B and C
B wins if A doesn't respond and C has Black hat
C wins if A and B doesn't respond(since he is wearing white obviously)

ReplyDeleteI think Anil is right unless u prove otherwise ..
DeleteSorry Folks, Question is updated with more details.
DeleteSo the answer is "White" as Anil already explained
ReplyDeleteactually the question should be like this- A should be front and C should be back...
ReplyDeleteIf i assume your question is true, since A answers correctly, A should wear white.
